Boston Globe takes a look at millionaire philanthropist Bobby Sager’s book Beyond the Robe, which cracks the surface of Sager’s unprecedented project, Science For Monks. With the support of the Dalai Lama, and financial backing from Sager, Science For Monks has incorporated modern science into the monastic Buddhist tradition.
The book, a collection of essays, quotes, portraits and photographs, is “an opportunity to interact with [Tibetan] monks and nuns on a different kind of basis, to develop a broader and deeper sense of who these men and women really are,” according to Sager.
