Yesterday, Lalla Essaydi was featured on Flavorpill’s cultural news and critique blog, flavorwire. The subject of the feature was Essaydi’s latest large-scale photography series, Harem. The series, which examines the complexities of female identity within a Muslim context, combines female models with Islamic calligraphy and traditional Orientalist imagery.
