Yo Dona Magazine did a feature on Madonna’s project, I Am Because We Are. The project incorporates film and photography, to communicate the African philosophy of “Ubuntu”—that all of humanity is inextricably entwined. An individuals well-being is dependent upon that of a community. I Am Because We Are tells the stories of children in Malawi, orphaned by AIDS and living with HIV. The narration, provided by Madonna, insists that each individual can make a difference.
